NLCE wins the Alan Clark Award for Local/Community Energy

We are delighted that North Lincolnshire Community Energy (NLCE) has been awarded the Alan Clark Award for Local/Community Energy at the Solar & Storage Live Awards, along with collaborators Joju Solar and North Lincolnshire Council.

The award recognises solar energy projects that go beyond generation to engage the local communities that they impact. NLCE have now installed solar panels on 14 schools and colleges, a community hub, a museum and a community council building, with more projects in the pipeline.

This equates to over 1.4MWp of installed capacity, or 277.68 tonnes of CO2 saved per year.

On top of that, the project has worked closely with the schools and community organisations that have hosted the solar panels – for example NLCE, North Lincs Council and Joju have run a series of environmental workshops at schools and colleges, to speak with pupils about their solar installations, the benefit to schools and North Lincolnshire communities, and about the wider topic of sustainability.

The partnership between NLCE, North Lincs Council and Joju Solar has proven to be a successful example of what can be achieved when organisations come together with a shared goal of sustainability and local empowerment.
