St John’s Market Generating

Following on from our last announcement NLCE are pleased to announce that that our twenty third solar PV installation at St John’s Market (SJM), Scunthorpe is finished and generating clean electricity; making a difference to renewable energy generation in our local area, benefiting the environment, the community and our members!

It is a 126.99 kWp array, using 249 solar panels. This is our first rooftop project using larger 510 W panels, chosen because the unusual barrel shaped roof could only take panels in limited positions and we wanted to maximise generation.

Interestingly the Market is connected to the North Lincolnshire Council (NLC) Microgrid, which also includes Scunthorpe Library and Council offices; so the energy generated at our new installation will be 100% consumed on site (or next door), with no export to the grid.

Once again, thanks to our members, the market stall holders for their patience, North Lincolnshire Council,
and Joju Solar for the team effort in completing this installation.
