Sunny March rounds off a rewarding year for NLCE
14th April 2025
It wasn't just the residents of Scunthorpe enjoying the sunny weather in March: our community-owned solar panels on schools and community buildings generated a whopping 114,855 kWh of clean energy, rounding off our financial year with 1,160,761 kWh produced.
For context, that's enough to power 429 average UK homes with electricity for a year, saving more than 240 tonnes of CO2e.
Not only that, but the more energy our school and community host buildings can use from the solar panels the more they are saving on their electricity bills (they pay well below market rate for the electricity) - a win win for people and environment.
We are really proud to have come so far since launching in 2023 and it doesn't stop there: construction is currently going ahead on St Bede's Voluntary Academy, bringing another 104.72 kWp into the fold. Could we power 1000 homes with clean energy in the next few years?
