Members hear of recent successes at Co-op AGM

Members of North Lincolnshire Community Energy were told at the September AGM that the previous 12 months had been very successful and the society now had over 200 members. Highlights included £600,000 raised in its first share offer.  There were already 12 solar arrays installed on local schools in the area with 5 more sites in he pipeline. A substantial solar array on the Attis Arena, Glanford Park, the home of Scunthorpe United football club was in the process of being constructed. This brought the total invested to over £1.5 million  with nearly 1.5MW of installed solar capacity.  This is projected to generate around 1.15GWh of renewable electricity each year, equivalent to the average consumption of about 415 UK households.

NLCE Chair Mike Smyth MBE told the meeting that a share offer was in the process of being prepared with the launch anticipated before the end of the year.

On the community side, officers from North Lincolnshire Council gave an uplifting report of the many contacts and visits to the schools where panels had been installed and the educational opportunities that the arrays were providing.
